Now my suggestion is to keep that Dragomon in the Record tab until you have unlocked all the bonuses that you want from that creature. Each creature (and unidentified egg that you get from the vendor) has 5 rewards for "recording" them, and it seems pointless to record them any more than that. The same creature type (Pincerpod, for example) also seems to yield the same rewards for recording them, so don't waste your time (or materials) recording mutiples of the same creature type. So be sure to have a spare mount of that type if you wish to start using that one for breeding or as a Ranch guard for the random invasions that sometimes plague the Ranch. One important thing to know is that once you take a mount and put it onto the "Record" tab of the Ranch, you can not take it back out and use it as a mount.

Special mounts normally have an orange border (there are some exceptions).

Normal mounts will havea blue border, and battlemounts normally have a purple border. You have to keep killing those Dragomon until they FINALLY (because I seem to have very, very bad luck) drop an item that says something to the effect of "Raptite Whistle" or saddle. There is no way in the current version of Dragomon Hunter to be able to tame that Dragomon. If you received a Dragomon mount that (usually) has a green border and says "Untamed" after the name, in my book it's useless. You can't forcefully tame any Dragomon, sorry.
